It is no surprise that many women wear hair extensions and at Noelle Salon in Boston we apply hair extensions to many lucky ladies. When choosing the best hair extensions there are 2 key factors;
Hair Quality; Remy Hair meaning the cuticle is going in the same direction as it was cut off the donor to avoid tangling. Hair extensions are intended to last at least 4 to 5 months and high quality hair will withstand daily use, heat, color and relaxing.

Hair Extension Method: The way in which the hair extension is attached to the hair is important to decide. This decision can be made based on how long they last in the hair, the occasion, the maintenance and the strength of your own hair.
Semi-Permanent Hair Extension Methods:
1) Fusion hair extensions Applied strand by strand, last 4 to 5 months with very little upkeep. They are placed 1/4" away from the scalp and are tension free. You can brush right through them and perfect for all occasions.
2) Micro Link Hair Extensions Applied strand by strand, last up to 6 months with monthly to bi-monthly maintenance. A copper tube is threaded into the hair and an extension is placed in the micro link hair extension and clamped closed. Unlike fusion hair extensions, they tend to slip on oily and fine hair.
Temporary Hair Extensions
1) Tape Hair Extensions are exactly that; 1 inch strips of hair extensions are sandwiched into 1 inch sections of hair. Tape hair extensions last 1 to 2 months and do not last as long on oily and fine hair. You can reuse them up to 3 times and they lay flat and can be well hidden.
2) Clip in Hair Extensions or Halo Hair Extensions are perfect for one time use and you have the ability to take them on and off. Daily use is not recommended because the tension at the scalp can lead to hair pulling. Often used for weddings, proms and pageants.
